Participants helped make the giant lantern that will float on the river during the festival this Saturday.
A workshop was held at Walka Water Works on Sunday and another was scheduled for 11am-4pm Monday.
This year’s main piece will be a colourful rainbow serpent, which was transformed from last year’s dragon.
Three spirit figures will also make up the display.
Ikara Celebratory Events helped to build frames, paper the lanterns and decorate.
Ikara artistic director Phillip Relf said the piece was an exciting part of the festival.
“There’s always something magical about lanterns,” he said. “It’s a great way of being able to energise the space.”
