The Maitland Mercury’s quality journalism, photographs and commitment to the community earnt praise at the recent 2016 Country Press NSW Awards.

The Mercury won the Community Leadership and Involvement, Online Editorial Coverage and Photography categories.
The Mercury was also praised for its sports journalism and received high commendations in the prestigious EC Sommerlad Memorial awards for Journalism and Editorial Writing.
The awards were presented during a dinner at City Tattersalls Club Sydney on Friday night.
In his judging notes, Australian Community Media’s Sydney managing editor Paul Roberts highlighted the Mercury’s commitment to delivering results that made a difference.
“Through print, online and social media campaigns, the Mercury has kicked plenty of goals for its community,” Mr Roberts said.
