The organisation is on a mission to discover memorabilia and old photographs from its history since 1952 and is encouraging anyone who can help to come forward.
Manager John Mills said he hoped to be able to display photographs and items from the past 60 years as part of celebrations.
“People might have an old photograph or a trophy from boxing, wrestling or gymnastics they have won that we could borrow to put on display,” he said. “Anything pertaining to an individual person’s time at the PCYC we would be grateful for.”
Mr Mills said the club did have some memorabilia but there were a lot of gaps in its records.
“We have a newspaper compilation of the last 10 to 15 years but that’s about it,” he said.
“For Maitland this 60 year anniversary is very significant, it’s the PCYC’s 75th statewide anniversary and also the NSW Police Force’s 150th anniversary so there is a lot of celebrating to do.”
Mr Mills would also like to hear from anyone who has been involved with the PCYC so he can invite them to attend the celebrations.
Former PCYC Maitland participants are invited to call the organisation on 4934 7122.
