With Christmas just days away, one Maitland teenager got the chance to dash around a supermarket and fill her trolley for free.

The lucky teen was Laura Williams, 19, from Aberglasslyn. Her father, Paul, won first prize in the Rutherford Telarah Rotary Club trolley dash competition. He did not think he was up to the challenge of running through the store to fill a trolley in just three minutes and subbed in his sprightly daughter.
“The game plan is to hit the meats, electronics, cat food and washing detergent,” Laura said before the race through Rutherford Coles.
“I came and had a look around so I know where to go too.”
It seems this game plan paid-off with the Williams family taking home almost $700 in groceries at the end of the race.
Mr Williams said the win was a fantastic surprise in the lead up to Christmas and thanked the Rotary Club for the competition.
Entry to the dash was by raffle ticket, with all proceeds going to two local charities – Carrie’s Place and Harry’s House.
Thanks to the ticket sales each charity received more than $6500.
“These are two well-known local charities, so we are very happy to support them,” Rotary club past-president Graeme Costin said.
Other raffle winners were Kay Hepworth who received a $200 Coles voucher, Sue Barry won a $50 Coles voucher and Angela Van Haren was awarded a gift basket.
