Cessnock City Council and Hunter Councils’ environment division, are requesting the community’s input on a number of on-ground activities that will assist with the management of the bushland reserve – including reserve access, recreational facilities and walking tracks.
The eight-hectare reserve contains the historically and culturally-significant Lower Hunter Dry Rainforest – one of the last remaining forests of its kind on the foreshore of the lower Hunter River.
The information session will also provide an opportunity to find out about the planned activities over the next three years (such as bush regeneration works to restore three endangered ecological communities and release of the Madeira Vine Biocontrol Beetle), and information on future community events.
The information session will be held at Hunter River Reserve Lookout (off Orient Street, Greta) on Monday, April 10 from 8am to 9am.
