The Family Hotel opposite Maitland Hospital, The Belmore Hotel in High Street and The Caledonian Hotel near Maitland Railway Station are all poised for new ownership.
The Belmore Hotel was passed in at auction in Sydney on Wednesday after some spirited bidding. Selling agents Ray White are currently in negotiations with some parties.
The Family Hotel will be auctioned on June 15 through Sydney firm Manenti Quinlan and Associates and Starr Partners Real Estate Maitland is calling for expressions of interest for The Caledonian Hotel.
The Murphy family has owned The Belmore Hotel for about 13 years.
Brothers Josh, Luke and Nick decided to sell the family business because they felt is was a good time to address the market.
The hotel was built over 100 years ago but burnt down in a fire and was rebuilt in 1942.
The Murphys renovated the pub between 2005 and 2007 restoring some of the original art deco architecture.
The 156-year-old Family Hotel is a two-storey property with an attic.
The ground level provides access to the underground cellar, the main bar, bistro and gaming area. The first floor comprises seven rooms.
The pub’s original stables are heritage listed and at the rear of the hotel’s car park.
The Caledonian Hotel is believed to have been built in Church Street, Maitland about 1910.
The definitive date of construction is unknown, but some documents refer to the hotel as early as 1880.
There were two Caledonian hotels built on opposite corners of Elgin Street in Maitland in the late 1800s, those hotels may or may not have had been linked with the Caledonian that today stands about 50 metres from the Grand Junction Hotel in Church Street.
