The 27-year-old woman drove into the service station in a blue Hyundai Elantra on June 12 and filled up with $10 worth of petrol.
Police said she told the service station employee she had no money. She left her licence with the employee and said she would be back in 10 minutes. She did not come back that day.
The woman returned in the same vehicle on June 15 and filled up with $20 of fuel.
An employee told police the woman claimed she forgot her wallet. The first employee was in the store at the time and raised the alarm.
The employee challenged her about not paying, and followed her to her car when she left the store.
The employee removed the woman’s keys from the ignition. She then allegedly got out of the car and abused the operator before he was punched in the head numerous times.
It is believed the woman then fled the scene.
Police are investigating the incident.
Information should be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
