A man has been charged following an alleged 12 hour long domestic violence incident at Kurri Kurri.

Police attended a unit about 8pm Friday following reports of a domestic incident involving a man and a woman.
It is alleged the man assaulted, choked and detained his partner over a 12 hour period.
The woman sustained a number of injuries and bruises to her body, head and neck and required medical treatment.
Officers arrested a 36-year-old man at the scene and conveyed him to Cessnock Police Station.
The man was charged with 10 offences including:
- contravene Apprehended Violence Order (AVO)
- two counts of intentionally choke person with recklessness
- three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm
- take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage occasioning actual bodily harm
- two counts of common Assault
- assault with act of indecency
