The Hunter Valley Buses bus caught fire on Railway Avenue about 8.45am and was well-alight when crews arrived.
Multiple residents said they heard a “loud bang” before the bus went up in flames.
Nearby resident Samantha said she heard a sound “like an explosion” before going outside to see the rear section of the bus on fire as it drove onto Railway Avenue.
“We heard this massive bang, we thought something had hit the house,” she said.
“We went outside and saw the bus coming around the corner with the rear right tyre on fire.
“By the time (NSW Fire and Rescue) got here, the whole bus was on fire."
NSW Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, with the bus driver the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The fire is believed to have started in the rear of the vehicle where the engine is mounted.
An investigation by Hunter Valley Buses is expected to take place.
