Applicants Edwin Fooks, Marcus Hickson and Gary Clayton have lodged plans with Maitland Council for the single-storey structure at 2 Seasons Circuit at Chisholm.
According to a traffic report compiled by Pavey Consulting Services, the site would be used for Sunday morning church service, prayer meeting on Monday evenings, bible study Friday evenings and mid-afternoon Sunday services.
A report by Complete Planning Solutions, who prepared the statement of environmental effects for the clients under the name of Gospel Trust, recommended that Maitland Council approve the project.
The proposed structure is surrounded by residential properties within a newly created residential area, part of the rapidly-growing suburb of Chisholm.
In 2016, Maitland councillors voted against a Muslim place of worship proposed for Louth Park, citing issues with the proposed location.
The decision saw applicant Dr Fazal Moughal proceed to appeal the decision in the NSW Land and Environment Court, before he withdrew the matter in February 2017.
2016 also saw Cessnock Council approve a proposal for a place of worship at Buchanan,
Written submissions regarding the Chisholm proposal should be lodged with council by February 12.
Details of the proposal can be inspected at council’s administration building or by accessing the application tracking portal on council’s website.
