Morpeth will come alive this weekend as the ChapelJazz festival takes hold.
The free event, which is in its 10th year, offers a bumper program of performances on Saturday and Sunday.
There will be market stalls and food in the main street on Saturday between noon and 3pm with music from Maryville Jazz Trio and Smokin’ Chops.
A meditative jazz eucharist will take place at St James’ Anglican Church between 6pm and 7pm.
A range of jazz performers will delight on Sunday ahead of the Schools Spectacular, which will be in the grounds of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, between 12.30pm and 4pm.
It will feature school bands from Newcastle Grammar School, Hunter Valley Grammar School and the Hunter School of Performing Arts.
ChapelJazz started when the catholic, anglican and uniting churches in Morpeth came together to bring traditional jazz music to the town.
