The 2002 Holden Commodore sedan, which had been reported stolen from Metford, was found near Bunya Place and Casuarina Crescent about 5.30am Tuesday.
It comes after police attempted to stop the vehicle in Rutherford about 10.30pm Saturday to conduct a random breath test.
When the officer sounded the police siren, the car sped away. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
String of thefts from cars
Police are investigating after thefts from four cars in Rutherford in five days, including a portable DVD player that was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
The DVD player was taken from a silver Ford station wagon on Bunning Avenue between 3.30pm on Thursday and 8.45am on Friday, while a wallet was also stolen from a Hyundai IX on Logan Road between Sunday and Monday.
Number plates were also stolen from a Jeep Cherokee on Harvey Road on June 10 and a Nissan X-Trail on Avery Street between 5.30pm on Sunday and 10am on Monday.
Man shoulder barges door
An unknown offender has been caught on CCTV trying to break into Maitland Federation Centre by shoulder barging the front door.
The person was seen to hit the door between 3.20 and 3.40am on Saturday, but did not gain entry.
The person is described as a Caucasian male, about 35 years old and of medium build. He was wearing a red and blue jacket, blue shorts, thongs and a blue scarf around his head.

Attempted break-ins at Chisholm
A thief attempted to break into two separate homes in Chisholm on the weekend.
The unknown person opened the roller door of a Longtail Street garage between 5pm Sunday and 10am Monday, and tried to enter the main residence.
No entry was made but the thief stole cabling and equipment to a CCTV system from the garage.
In nearby Rockmaster Street, someone tried to jimmy open the rear door of a home but they were unsuccessful.
