At about 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 19, emergency services were a called to a house in Tarro near Maitland.
On arrival at the scene paramedic a discovered a young girl in cardiac arrest.
The infant was rushed to John Hunter Hospital but could not be revived.
Police are now investigating the events leading up to the young child’s death.
