You might remember him – in March, two dogs brutally attacked the popular old fella, leaving him with gaping wounds. Resilient is an understatement.
No one is more relieved to see the gentle giant reach another year than owner Pam Walterback who says she plans to spoil him today.
George and his eight horse friends on the Ellalong property where he now lives will receive plenty of apples and carrots on their big day.
“He’s very partial to liquorice, so he’ll get some of that today too,” Mrs Walterback said.
“He’s come back really well. He just seems to take life as it comes. He’s happy.”

George will have chances to work off the sweet treats too, with Mrs Walterback planning to ride him again in the near future.
In his two decades, George has come up against attacks, flood waters and bushfires, and lived through it all.
Happy birthday George. May your 22nd year be your best.
