A man was taken to John Hunter Hospital on Thursday with burns to his hand and legs after trying to start a fire at Maitland Vale.
Paramedics were called to a Maitland Vale Road property just before 5pm to reports of a man suffering burns.
Three ambulance units responded and arrived to find a man with superficial burns to one hand and both of his legs.
The man, aged 33, was taken to John Hunter Hospital via ambulance for treatment. A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said he was in a stable condition at the time.
