What we didn’t tell you was the chaos surrounding one wedding in the Barrington's Mr Wethered officiated at.
With wedding season in full swing across the Hunter we want to hear our readers' stories.
We want you to tell us the story about your special day, if not yours, a memorable wedding you may have attended whether it was romantic and picture perfect, or a disaster of epic proportions.
Write to us and send in your photographs or videos to betina.hughes@fairfaxmedia.com.au to share your tale.
Here's Mr Wethered's story:
"It was a wedding in the strangest place," he said.
"I was performing the wedding in a creek bed at the Barringtons of all places.
"The formalities started late – in fact an hour and a half later than it was supposed to.
"We eventually got underway and then a storm bucketted down on us.
"We raced back into a house on the property. Everyone was drenched."
Mr Wethered's second attempt at marrying the couple was again unsuccessful when a rainbow appeared in the wake of the storm, providing the perfect wedding photo opportunity.
"I started the ceremony but was interrupted when this rainbow appeared. The bride, groom and guests all wanted to take photographs," he said.
Then came round three - a blood curdling scream from one of the wedding attendants and the ceremony stopped.
"I started the ceremony yet again but it came to an abrupt halt when one of the bridesmaids started screaming because there were leeches in her shoes."
The fourth wedding attempt was successful.
The bride and groom kissed and Mr Wethered went on his merry way - but something wasn't right.
"Finally, I got the ceremony done. I was driving home and felt something on my foot. I had to pull over and get rid of a leech in my shoe," he said.
