It was a sea of purple and costumes with hundreds of people joining the cause at Marcullin Park for Maitland’s Relay for Life on Saturday.
There were smiles and tears with participants taking turns to walk countless laps around the Lorn park.
The overnight event was officially kicked off with an opening ceremony on Saturday, and concluded at 8am on Sunday.
A national initiative, Relay for Life is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, patients and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost to cancer and to raise money to help save more lives.
The local event has already raised $79,000, and is hoping to reach $100,000.
