The Rural Womens Network inducted 87 women volunteers from rural NSW to the Hidden Treasure Honour Roll this week.

Since 2010, the Hidden Treasure Honour Roll has recognised over 900 women in rural NSW who are making their community a better place to live. Among those nominated were four local women.
- Margaret Harvey, Wallalong

Margaret became a volunteer with Maitland Community Care Services (MCCS), and in her 18 years there delivered Meals on Wheels (MOW), and was secretary of Management Committee. Margaret joined CWA in 2014 and became secretary of Maitland Branch. She enjoys all aspects of CWA, including baking for the local refugees, and for the homeless. Margaret enjoys many handicrafts, particularly embroidery and card making; she is a member of the Maitland Show Home Craft Committee.
- June Gardner, Lambs Valley
June does her best to make better the lives of women, children and their families. She makes small bags containing essential toiletries for Maitland Hospital to hand to patients. She loves cooking, sewing, crafting and knitting. Positions held in Maitland CWA have been Vice-President, Handicraft Officer, Publicity Officer, International Officer, Cookery Officer, Treasurer and Councillor. She has been helping at the CWA Tea Rooms at the Maitland Showground for 31 years and is a Life Member of the Maitland Show. In 2017 she was awarded a Life Member of CWA and is currently Vice-President of the Maitland CWA.
- Dawn Vallance, Raworth

Dawn has been very active in the community both in her 35 years in CWA and encouraging participation in the Rutherford/Telerah Anglican Church. She has also given many years of service with the RSL Sub-Branch Womens Auxiliary. Dawn joined East Maitland CWA in 1982 before transferring to Maitland Branch where she has held numerous positions such as secretary, treasurer, councillor and delegate to the state conference. She is the current president at Maitland. In 2017 Dawn was made a Life Member of Maitland CWA.
- Christine Ostermann, Gillieston Heights

Christine was born in Germany in 1947, migrated to Australia in 1958 with her family and spent time at Greta Migrant Camp. In 1966 she met her future husband Max and married only seven weeks later. They had five children. Christine volunteered for many years in the primary school and high school canteen. She is a life member of the Kurri Kurri P&C and Kurri Kurri Senior Rugby League Football Club. She also volunteered as the treasurer for the Kurri Kurri Preschool, Primary school and High school, local football clubs, business chambers, and Kurri Kurri Probus.
