The teenager presented to Gosford Police Station on Wednesday, where she was charged with one count of armed robbery.
The charge is in relation to an incident at the Metro Petroleum, where police claim a bottle was smashed on the counter, an employee was menaced with a knife and various items were stolen from behind the counter and aisles.
Police said the girl turned up at the station after The Mercury published an article and pictures appealing for information about the incident.
She received conditional bail to appear at a children’s court next month.
Central Hunter crime manager Detective Sergeant Mitch Dubojski said police had identified a second female suspect in relation to the offence.
He said police were trying to find the girl, but also urged her to hand herself in.
Sergeant Dubojski thanked the community for their assistance with police inquiries.
Any information that may assist police should be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
