The avid bowler and active community identity died on Thursday morning after having lived in the area for over 80 years.
His son David described his father as a “wonderful and respected man”.
“His main love, other than his family, was bowling. I couldn’t tell you how many groups he has been part of,” David said.
“Anyone he could help out, he would.”
Ken enjoyed a long career as a certified practicing accountant, and later a partner at a local firm.
Always on hand to help his community, Ken served on Maitland City Council for a decade, as an Alderman (councillor) from 1977 to 1987 and mayor from 1984-1985.
He has been on the board of multiple local committees including Maitland City Bowling Club, Telarah Bowling Club, Lower Hunter Hospital Board, Hunter District Bowling Association, Zone 6 Bowling Association and the Royal NSW Bowling Association.
Ken died on Thursday morning, and a celebration of his life will be held at 11am on Thursday at Maitland Town Hall.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations to Benhome Home for the Aged may be left at the Town Hall.
