Officers were called to the Brooks Street property at about 7pm on Friday after reports for the welfare of a man, a police spokesman said.
“Police arrived and located a 39-year-old man armed with knives outside before he entered the home and locked the front door,” the spokesman said.
“Just after 4.30am on Saturday, after assistance from police negotiators and tactical police, the man walked out of the home and was arrested without incident.”
The man was taken to a nearby mental health facility and will be assessed.
