Maitland councillors have claimed reimbursements on ties, travel and technology with a $10,146 expenses bill raked up over the six months to December last year.

A breakdown of the expenses was presented in a report to a recent Maitland City Council meeting.
The report said the facilities provided to councillors during the period from July to December 2019 were within the allowances specified in the Councillors Expenses and Facilities Policy.
Councillors claimed expenses under the categories of Information Communication Technology, professional development, travel and corporate wardrobe.
None of the city's 13 councillors claimed under the carer expenses category.
Information Communication Technology accounted for the most claims with councillors spending a total of $4155

Councillors Don Ferris, Peter Garnham, Sally Halliday, Ben Mitchell, Kanchan Ranadive and Mike Yarrington had clean slates and did not make any claims.
Information Communication Technology accounted for the most claims with councillors spending a total of $4155 - $1146 of that spent by Cr Henry Meskauskas.
A total of $4636.18 was spent on professional development - Cr Philip Penfold claiming the most with a total spend of $1607.30.
A total of $881.90 was spent by councillors on travel - Cr Ben Whiting the biggest spender on $306.
A total of $473.05 was spent on corporate wardrobe - Cr Philip Penfold the only representative to make a claim for some new clobber.
None of the councillors claimed carer expenses.
In total Cr Philip Penfold was the biggest spender with a total of $2556.55 in claims.
He was followed by Cr Mitchell Griffin on $1814.20, Cr Robert Aitchison on $1637.75, Cr Henry Meskauskas with $1308.50, Cr Loretta Baker (Mayor) on $1177.13, Cr Ben Whiting on $929 and Cr Nicole Penfold on $723.
During the financial year of 2017-2018 councillors spent almost $40k on expenses. (Note: this was for a 12 month period).
During that financial year Cr Robert Aitchison was the biggest spender raking up $7544.32 on professional development, telecommunications and stationery and travel.
