At 2pm the Zoo started livestreaming the feeding on heir facebook page of what is a little known animal from South America.
"They're largely unknown out here," zookeeper Daisy Murphy said. "There are about 30,000 of them in the wild.
"We're lucky, we're one of only a handful of zoos in Australia to have them."
Maned wolves are South America's largest canid - a mammal of the dog family. We were told by zookeeper Riley who did the feeding that the female is the dominant partner, and that they had replaced their previous female this year after breeding had proven unsuccessful.
"We've had our maned wolves for a few years and we recently replaced our female with another younger female - even though she's just two, she's dominant," Riley explained.
"We're hoping that this might lead to them breeding.
"We fed them some chicken and you could see they love it. They're lovely animals."
