Temperatures started to ramp up from Wednesday with a top of 23. On Thursday the temperature hit 26 and Friday 25 with some cloud.
But the star days of the week are forecast to be Saturday and Sunday with sunny conditions and tops of 29 and 28 respectively.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology's Maitland weather observations, the hottest day in September last year was on Friday, September 4 when the mercury hit a high of 28.4 degrees.
Conditions will cool slightly on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week - all days forecast for a high chance of rain. So far this month Maitland has received 2.2mm of rain compared to 5.8mm for the same period last year.
