Threlfo held the innings together, after the Plovers slumped to 6-80, scoring 17 as Wests posted 141.
The 15-year-old was one of two debutants for Wests, with off-spinner Glyn Hayes, 17, bowling an over late in the day after taking a good catch at mid-on to dismiss Justin Kavanagh for 11.
Dustin McGrath chimed in with a valuable 24 and Mitch Fisher made 14 in a 31-run partnership with Threlfo.
Fisher delivered a devastating spell of 12 overs to claim 3-41 as Kurri Weston posted 4-95 in reply at stumps.
Kurri Weston skipper Michael Heinrich played his most important innings of the season finishing on 41 not-out and weathering Fisher’s spell.
“That spell from Mitch Fisher was the best 12 overs of sustained fast bowling I have batted against,” Heinrich said after day-one of the two-day fixture.
“Mitch was on fire and we were lucky he didn’t grab more wickets.”
Heinrich and Tim Harding resume on day two with Harding on nine after collecting 4-33 in Wests innings.
Alex Seamer enjoyed his return to Coronation Oval, for his first game since joining the Warriors, claiming 3-41 including the key wickets of Aaron Mahony (12), Luke Merchant (29) and Andrew Trappel (1).
Cameron Bates kept up his great start to the season finishing with 2-19.
Raymond Terrace v City United
Two quick wickets by Raymond Terrace skipper Nick Savage to dismiss City United’s openers has swung things slighty in the homeside’s favour at Jack Collins Oval.
City dismissed Terrace for 238 courtesy of an outstanding bowling effort by Ben Davies who claimed 5.34.
The visitors finished the day on 2-12, with a strong batting line-up still in the shed.
City skipper Matt Trappel said Davies bowled the best he had seen from him for a long time.
“He really deserved his five-for. He was bowling really good pace and swinging it everywhere,” Trappel said.
“Raymond Terrace batted well and I would have said it was a good even day of cricket until we lost those two quick wickets at the end.
“We have a long batting line-up still in the shed, however, and I think we are in with a real good chance of chasing down the runs next week if we can get through the new ball without losing too many wickets.”
