The free event, Celebrate!, will include live local music and performances across two stages, an art exhibition, creative workshops, activities and food this weekend.
Maitland Council's recreation and community planning coordinator Emily Livens encouraged the city's young people to wandered down to Sun Street Studios on Saturday.
"The event has been developed by our young people for young people," she said.
"It's a free event of all ages, and it will have two stages with live music from local bands, artists, drama performances and activities.
"We will have council officers there to engage with the young people to see what it is they want ot be engaged on and how for our future planning."
It is an initiative of the Youth Empowering Participation (YEP) Group and Council.
"They've been working really hard with the support of council to work through the logistics of the event," she said.
"They've been so enthusiastic and come up with a great event. It's going to be a fantastic day for our young people." The youth event will be held at Sun Street Studios on Saturday, November 30 from 2pm to 6pm.
