Tenambit Morpeth teenager Tallon Gear scored his first century in any form of cricket to lead Maitland to a 162-win against Singleton in the John Bull Shield on Sunday.

Fellow teenager Brayden Brooks, from Raymond Terrace, picked up 5-36 to be the star with the ball along with Northern Suburbs' Sean Gibson who finished with 4-17.
Opening the batting, Gear compiled 117 as Maitland reached 8/240 from their 50 overs.
Kurri-Weston's Liam Neild made 26 and another Tenambit Morpeth teenager Hunter Ball made 21.
In response Singleton were all out for 78 in the 27th over.
The comprehensive win was just the response Maitland needed after a disappointing 23-run loss to Cessnock when they were bowled out for 107 at Lorn Park.
Suburban District defeated Cessnock by five wickets with almost six overs to spare.
Cessnock were all out for 202 in the 40th over with Matt Hopley top scoring with 52.
Former Port Stephens all-rounder Jarrod Moxey smashed 67 off 55 balls as Suburban District posted 5/205.
Upper Hunter had the bye.
