Cricket NSW Hunter cricket manager Gary Fisher confirmed that under the NSW Government's roadmap sporting facilities will reopen from October 11 when the state had reached a 70 per cent double vaccination rate allowing cricket clubs to resume training under Covid guidelines.
Fisher said community support including senior and junior cricket games would be allowed to resume once the state reaches an 80 per cent double vaccination rate which was expected to be about October 20-21.
He said given the need for associations to organise draws and for registrations and other administrative tasks to be completed the first round of junior and senior cricket could be as early as Saturday, October 30.
"All of this though only applies if you have a double vaccination," Fisher said.
Fisher said with dates now clearer he urged all prospective players to get their registrations in so that club's can organise teams for the coming season.
He said although it was a later start to the season than usual, a full round of two-day and one-day matches should be able to be accommodated in first and second grade cricket.
The 2020-21 season was cut short in the first week of the semi-finals. City United were minor premiers in first to fourth grades.
Players are advised to check their club or the competition Facebook site for updates on training schedules.
