Maitland Show president, Margaret Enright, said so far six young women have entered the competiton, and she encourages more to join by entering on the website or by dropping into the show office.
The 2022 entrants will still be at the 2022 Maitland Show from February 18-20, and will be wearing name badges, but the competition won't be drawn at the show as usual.

"Attending the show and answering questions will give the girls some good experience for judging questions," Ms Enright said.
The current Miss Maitland, Hayley Johns, will be speaking at the show's official opening and representing the 2022 Young Women entrants.
Ms Enright said the 2022 contestants think delaying the competition is a great idea, as it gives those competing in the ring a chance to focus on their horses.
